Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 Disappearence Stéphane Berthomet's Blog Post Raises Interesting Questions & Possibilities

Stéphane Berthomet is a former police officer who is now a specialist in police matters. According to his own testimony his analysis and advice is often criticized because criticism seeks progress and change. This morning he posted some very interesting information about the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 on his Journal de Montreal blog titled -

'Le vol MH370 a-t-il continué de voler ?'

I asked Stéphane if I could quote extensive portions of it here translated into English and he agreed. Subsequently a Twitter reader Tweeted that she was unable to read French and Stéphane responded to her saying that I would would be providing an English translation on one of my blogs. I will thus provide a full translation here along with the original French text, unless Stéphane changes his mind, before weighing in with my own thoughts. This is a work in progress. . .

Translation: A large part of the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 revolves around the absence of information about its exact position at the time it disappeared. No distress signal was sent by the pilots and, to date, the Malaysian authorities have not confirmed that its automatic maintenance messages were transmitted by the ACARS system that certain new airliners are equipped with.

Translation: All of the experts agree today that it is not normal that the Malaysian authorities are unable to provide information about the exact flight plan and the final elements of the flight of the plane. All of this vagueness has generated the most diverse hypotheses, so yesterday I made a brief presentation here. Before elaborating on the question, we must remember that in the case of the disappearance of flight AF447 between Rio and Paris, it took five days to find the first debris from the aircraft and two years to salvage the wreck(age) as well as the black boxes that no longer emitted any signal due to depleted batteries.

Translation: The disappearance of flight MH370 displays very precise elements, which make this scenario very different than the crash of flight AF 447. We now know that an investigation for terrorist acts has been initiated by the Malaysian authorities who benefit from the support of the FBI, which was almost immediately dispatched to the scene. The two (suspected) passengers, as well as those who organized the purchase of their tickets, are being investigated by the authorities, and the anti-terrorist services of many countries are exchanging information towards the end of identifying them and to know more about their possible implication in this disappearance. It is however possible that the use of these (stolen) passports is not part of a terrorist act but rather a "simple" identity theft, such as in the case of clandestine immigration for example. In spite of the fact that French anti-terrorist services have not yet opened an investigation, and that Canada is no more ahead of the French in this matter, the hypotheses of a terrorist attack during the flight and of a (catastrophic) technical failure of such magnitude that it would lead to the complete disintegration of the aircraft in flight are those that remain the most plausible.

Translation: There is however another possibility, whispered by some experts like this one, which suggest that flight MH370 may not have "disappeared" is such a catastrophic manner. Up until this morning, I considered this possibility to be highly improbable, to say nothing of pure fantasy. Please understand me : as a former anti-terrorist police officer, I participated in many investigations of hijacked aircraft or acts of terrorism. I am not someone who enjoys conspiracy theories, nor am I very appreciative of "reasoning" that finds its source in hazardous hypotheses. I am thus (ad)venturing here into unknown territory to put forth a hypothesis that is quite audacious for a skeptical spirit like my own.

INFORMATION CONFIDENTIELLE

Translation:  I am only putting this hypothesis forward because on Monday I became aware of highly confidential information which indicates to me that, in spite of flight MH370's disappearance from radar(s) in the middle of the ocean, the aircraft continued to provide its position for many hours afterwards! Thus, according to this information, the aircraft did not disappear nor explode in flight for some unknown reason, but continued to transmit data many hours after the radars of the Malaysian authorities (lost track of it). This information came to me via a source that I cannot reveal and I thus attempted to obtain further details from those who normally deal with such data.

There are only a few companies in the world that possess the knowledge and the competent personnel to analyze and decrypt the information transmitted by aircraft in order to make this mass of data understandable and usable. Some of these companies have actively collaborated in investigations into the disappearance of other aircraft in identical circumstances. It is thus not difficult for me to know who does what in this kind of case, and to call the company potentially concerned with this work. However, in spite of many direct calls to the communications officer of the company in question, nothing.

Translation: No response and no return phone call.
Likewise no response to my emails to his direct internet address in the company.
I asked to speak with another officer or other responsible person, impossible.
I finally explained to the receptionist that I had information concerning the possible implication of the company in question in work related to the search for flight MH370, and that I would publish information on this subject. I asked the receptionist to deliver this message to the person I was trying to contact, or another company officer, so that they would be informed of this. Nothing. Total silence... like the Malaysian authorities on the existence (or not) of the flight data.

Translation: This information, as much as I consider it to be reliable, cannot justify in and of itself that I reveal the name of this company, but it none-the-less casts a very particular light on the matter when we add the other elements of the case. Many other media point out the fact that the telephones of certain passengers of flight MH370 continue to function, and that they even ring when one calls their number. They tell us also that flight MH370 turned back, but the Malaysian aviation authorities are not - three days after the event - willing to say if this flight manouvre was on the flight plan or not. As much as it took almost five days to find the debris of flight AF 447, we cannot but notice the absence of any discovery of debris in the case of flight MH370. This fuels the craziest of hypotheses. Finally, the last troubling element, this declaration of a pilot who was in contact with flight MH370 at the time of its disappearance, which raises new questions about the direction of the flight at that time.

Translation: And if flight MH370 was detoured from its initial flight plan and landed somewhere?
In the case of a hijacking by terrorists, this hypothesis is realistic and it may even explain the secrecy that shrouds the information about the flight of the aircraft and the last elements of its eventual discovery. Evidently, this hypothesis would make comprehensible the fact that some of the telephones of passengers were able to continue to ring after the aircraft supposedly exploded or disappeared in the ocean…
It could even explain the "fact" that the (hypothetical) terrorists are taking their time before claiming responsibility for their act, waiting for the situation of the aircraft to be known before eventually negotiating.

To conclude, when we know the habitual lack of transparency of the Malaysian authorities in matters of "interior affairs", and the culture of secrecy of the Chinese government, we would hardly be surprised if one or the other possessed information carefully conserved under the seal of secrecy.

Translation: The hypothesis that I am proposing here is somewhat far-fetched, I voluntarily acknowledge this, but in view of all the elements it is worth more than some of the other speculation. It remains possible, evidently, that the aircraft remained in flight several hours before disappearing into the ocean, or even that it landed somewhere due to technical problems. In this case, it is difficult to understand why - other than landing on a deserted island - no contact has been established four days after the fact. We would be in a scenario worthy of the television series 'Lost' in which I can hardly believe. In any case, we must not dismiss the possibility that technical reasons might explain the fact that certain telephones can continue to ring and appear to be "on line" when they would be at the bottom of the ocean. In effect, the loss of contact between the telephones and the systems which relay the signal, or the roaming system, can sometimes lead to some technical aberrations.  Since, do not forget that for the telephones to be able to ring, they absolutely must be in a coverage area of the mobile telephony network and thus, not in the middle of the ocean since each terminal covers only a few kilometers.

Translation: I am often the first to say that we must be wary of appearances, and if I had not received the information concerning the transmission of data of the aircraft many hours after its "official" disappearance, I would not have put forward this kind of hypothesis. But if this information is validated, it will certainly be a central element in the disappearance of flight MH370, and especially in the search for the aircraft. I will thus continue to follow this track until I get the confirmation or negation, and this blog post will be updated accordingly.

Translation: Update 11/03 at 13h : The company targeted by this article finally responded to my questions, after the publication of this blog post, in indicating to me that because of the investigation in progress they would make no communication on the subject and that the information would come from the aviation authorities or those responsible for the investigation.
It is thus not a denial but rather a refusal to answer my straightforward questions, such as

« Is your company involved in the processing of the data from the aircraft in flight MH370 ? ».

A silence upon which I leave each person to draw their own conclusions.

Considering the necessary delays in the treatment of this type of data, we can imagine that the information will certainly be provided soon to the authorities responsible for the investigation. Normally it would be a matter of a few hours, or a day at most, before we had the news about this flight data.

Unless for reasons related to the investigation, the aeronautical authorities or police still wish to keep secret the information about flight MH370.

Stay tuned.

Grumpy Cat Weighs In On Jim Flaherty's Budget Day Tie Dilemna

The Harper Government™'s Finance minister Jim Flaherty has taken to Twitter to ever so democratically crowd source opinions from the citizens of Soviet Canuckistan aka Canadians regarding which of two ties he should wear during his unveiling of the 2014 federal budget tomorrow.

He has asked Canadians to ReTweet which tie they would prefer that he wears for Budget Day:

This tie with green and blue stripes or this one with green and blue and orange stripes.

Grumpy Cat has decided to weigh in on this matter of national importance. . .

The Battle Hymn Of The Republic Is Hereby Intelligently ReDesigned aka Transmogrified Into A Battle Hymn To Impugn Dick. . .

Dick as in that pompous ASS aka Atheist Supremacist Spokesperson Richard Dawkins. . .

Without further ado here is my brand spanking new parody song version of famous Unitarian Julia Ward Howe's 'The Battle Hymn Of The Republic', which is itself an Intelligent (Re)Design aka "ReModeling" of 'John Brown's Body'. . .

'A Battle Hymn To Impugn Dick'

Dick's eyes have seen the glory of my funning of his wrongs.
He is whining 'bout the scansion of 'The Atheist Supremacist's Song';
He hath loosed the fateful Twitt'ring of his foolishly swift words:
His Tweets seem mighty dumb.

(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Dick's Tweets seem mighty dumb.

I have seen Dick spout the back-fires of a hundred foolish rants,
I have builded Dick this blog post which kicks him in the pants;
I can read the pompous "sentence" of Dick blaring "Learn to scan."
Dick's head will soon explode.

(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Dick's head will soon explode.

I have penned a funny gospel with some furnished words that steal*:
"As ye deal with God's believers, so with you my songs shall deal;
Let this writer, born of woman, mock Dick Dawkins with some zeal,
Dick's "Truth" is just plain wrong.

(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Dick's "Truth" is just plain wrong.

Dick has sounded forth with Tweets then has beaten a retreat;
He is sifting out those Tweets of his before his public sees ('em):
Oh, be swift, my Tweets, to answer Dick! Be jubilant, my Tweets!
Our God is watching on.

(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is watching on.

On the Island of the Limeys Dick was born across the sea,
With a story in his grey cells that disfigures you and me:
As he's tried to make men Atheists, let us try to make Dick see,
That God is watching on.

(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is watching on.

Dick's Tweeting quite the story 'bout the scansion of my song,
He is foolish to say "stolen", He's a sucker and he's wrong,
So his mouth shall be his footstool, and these Tweets of mine his gong,
Our God is watching on.

(Chorus)
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is watching on.

The Magic Of The Reality That Evolutionary Biologist Richard Dawkins Is A "Less Than Bright" Bright Who Does Not *Appreciate* Parody & Satire

To say nothing of the fact that Richard Dawkins is quite evidently not "Bright" enough to understand and appreciate the fact that *some* William S. Gilbert lyrics in 'The Major General's Song', such as

"I know the scientific names of beings animalculous,"

for *example*. . . are actually perfectly applicable to this world famous evolutionary biologist, and thus did not need to be changed aka mutated aka evolved aka Intelligently ReDesigned. . . one iota, in my parody version of Gilbert & Sullivan's 'The Major General's Song' known as 'The Atheist Supremacist's Song'.

I mean what *was* Richard Dawkins thinking when he brazenly and quite foolishly accused me of plagiarism of William S. Gilbert's lyrics in Tweeting -

"Even your rhymes were stolen directly from Gilbert."

Doh!

It seems that Richard Dawkins is truly a man of great faith, indeed a man of remarkably *blind* faith.

Not such a bright Bright that Richard Dawkins. . .

Without further ado, here is the Twitter thread in question -
