Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Lawyers

"Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Lawyers"
(originally by Ed Bruce)
(parody by Robin Edgar)

This quite impromptu parody song inspired by Mothers' Day is a work in progress.

I am open to suggestions for improvements to the lyrics from cowboys or even lawyers.

Lawyers ain't easy to love and they're often too bold
They'd rather give you stress than justice I've been told
Overstuffed briefcases and old faded rulings
And each hour requires some more pay
If you don't understand them, an' they don't die young
They'll probably just write away

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be lawyers
Don't let 'em start lawsuits that push their clients' luck
Let 'em be cowgirls and cowboys and such

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be lawyers
'Cos they'll never stay home, they'll be glued to the phone
Even with clients who are cucks

Lawyers like musty old court rooms, appealing* judges' rulings
Little known statutes, jurisprudence, and juicy trials
Them that don't know them won't like them and them that do
Sometimes won't know how to pay them
They ain't wrong, they're just different, but their pride won't let them
Say things that let you know their FAILs

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be lawyers
Don't let 'em start lawsuits that push their clients' luck
Let 'em be cowgirls and cowboys and such

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be lawyers
'Cos they'll never stay home, they'll be glued to the phone
Even with clients who are cucks

* It depends upon what the meaning of the word "appealing" is. . .

Here's a video of the original song performed by American Outlaws
